Incredible experience. We were blown away. Wish we could’ve ordered the whole menu. Everything we ordered was SO good. Easily became our favorite place in Miami. The bluefin tuna might have been the star of the night. The staff were so personable and the chef is awesome! We loved that it was only 12 seats. Definitely get the specials they offer the snapper bao bun was so good.

Barra Callao is a small, intimate spot, and I really like that kind of setting. I’m still not completely sold on having a full dinner at the bar, mostly because it makes conversation and eye contact with the person you’re with a little less natural. The food is very good, and the quality of the ingredients really comes through, especially with the fish. The lamb ribs were nicely cooked over charcoal, which gives them a great smoky flavor, although I felt the dish could use a more distinctive touch. The clams were the one dish that didn’t quite work for me. The lemon was too dominant and ended up covering the natural flavor of the clams rather than bringing it out. Dessert was excellent. I don’t usually like coconut at all, but here it was subtle enough that I genuinely enjoyed it. The sake was also surprisingly good, smooth and very easy to drink, even for someone who barely drinks, speaking from experience. Barra Callao is definitely a nice place to visit when you feel like trying something a little different. The space has character, the ingredients are clearly taken seriously, and there’s a lot to enjoy in the experience.
