Chef Masayoshi "Masa" Takayama's Japanese sushi restaurant in the Time Warner Center serves only an omakase menu at a small counter-style dining room. Fish was sourced largely from Tokyo's Tsukiji market, and Takayama designed the plates himself as a potter.

Very expensive but amazing. Was taken here as a gift by my grandparents and was truly blown away. Meal is about 2 hours long and quite big, so I would recommend skipping lunch so you can fully enjoy it. No pictures allowed inside, either. Waitstaff is very nice and it is fascinating to watch the chefs work at the bar area. I would particularly recommend the steak add-on to their omakase menu, for it was truly the best piece of steak I have ever eaten. I would note that it can be a little bit noiser than your average fancy resturant, especially if there is a big group present. Price is very, very high, about $900 a person. Don't recommend if you're not into sushi or just looking to impress someone, but, if you're a sushi enthusiast who can afford it, it's a mind-blowing culinary experience.

A repeat visit to Masa. We sat at the chef's counter and I had a wonderful experience. The fish is extremely fresh β you can tell from the quality of the uni and each nigiri. Everything is served timely so the meal doesn't drag out. Great service and ambiance. It continues to be a place where you cannot use your cell phone or take pictures, but that just makes you enjoy the moment even more.

Top notch service. Let me start here - the wine glasses are shaped similar to wine bottles. I asked when I tried two wines before deciding one on the different glasses and they mentioned that. Food wise, they have vegetarian options. Loved the truffle hand roll, neat looking and tasting. The tempura looked great. Mushroom fried and the miso soup were usually. Eggplant appetizer was great - tender and well seasoned.
