Chef Hayato Kojima, who ran an izakaya in Tokyo for a decade, cooks a kappo-style omakase at an eight-seat counter above a Sawtelle mini mall. There's no set menu, so a dozen or so courses follow the day's ingredients, including charcoal skewers and fish from Toyosu Market.

KOJIMA offers one of the best Omakase experiences in LA. Chef Hayato has created something truly special. Each of the 12 courses made artful use of the most authentic ingredients. Everything was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The experience really felt and tasted like something I'd find in Tokyo. The menu changes constantly but ours featured everything from whelk to wagyu combined with seasonal produce. We even got to enjoy a cold cold dashi, arrow root and uni soba dish that was perfect for the unusually hot weather on the day of our visit. Service was friendly and efficient. They made the experience fun and enjoyable without feeling overbearing or rigid. KOJIMA also has a surprisingly expansive sake and wine menu that allowed us to sample a few options. Overall a truly wonderful experience that I'd highly recommend and I hope to visit again soon.

Small intimate restaurant tucked away in a strip mall on Sawtelle. There were 15 courses and each one was excellent all made with care and craftsmanship. Kojima is a true artist and amazing chef definitely worth a treat to come here.

Amazing food and experience with Kojima. The price is for a special occasion, but for a multi-course set Omakase, it is well priced, especially in LA. The food is delicious, diverse, and authentic while remaining unpretentious. It is elevated but down to earth, and you’ll be delighted by the variety and flavorfulness! Likewise, the staff is friendly and accommodating as well as very professional - I can’t wait to have an excuse to go back! The course is set and reservations are required. There are two servings each evening so make sure to check the times!
