Southern cooking from the Yacht Club owners in Five Points, led by chef JohnDavid Wright. The menu pairs familiar plates like boiled peanuts and pimento cheese with rarer Gulf and Deep South dishes, such as truck-stop chicken on a stick and West Indies crab salad. Cocktails and wine are a focus.

The Rougarou (restaurant, not mythical creature) is an absolute delight from start to finish. The service was top notch! The staff was so kind, and wonderful. They made us feel at home and made sure that we had everything we needed. The food was scrumptious. We selected the tasting menu and the chef chose our dishes for us. The tasting menu is a good amount of food and really was worth the price! Our favorite dish was GrandDad's chicken. The Alabama white sauce was incredible and the chicken was fall of the bone tender. We also loved the Collard salad. The acidity of the sauce with the crisp textures of the greens & apples made our mouths 😋 happy. We will definitely be back! Thank you for making us feel at home with y'all tonight!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rougarou is easily one of the best Southern fine dining restaurants in Denver, Colorado! I decided to give this place a try with a group of friends after a mystery comedy show, and it exceeded every expectation. If I could give them 10 stars, I absolutely would. I personally ordered the catfish, Hot & Sour, and the grilled okra—every bite was incredible. If I had been dining by myself, I probably would’ve licked my plate clean! I also got to sample some of my friends’ dishes, including the Granddad’s Chicken, and it was outstanding. I can’t even remember everything I tasted because we were sharing so much, but one thing I do remember is that everything was delicious. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The food, the quality, and the overall experience were top-notch. I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. Rougarou has definitely earned a spot as one of my favorite restaurants in Denver!

The restaurant Rougarou, essentially turns me into a mythical Rougarou with how I scarf down this food. Pretty unassuming spot serving up some delicious family style Cajun food. Every plate is really fantastic and worthy of sharing. Like many Cajun/Creole spots, the food is heavy and definitely not healthy. You will be surprised how much a small unassuming plate will fill you up. The chicken on a stick sounds so lame, but easily worth it. The 4 well-sized fried chicken pieces are some of the best I’ve had. They also do some really good catfish (sorry for no picture on this one). Classic grits meals are also here and worth a try. Drinks are great. This restaurant is related to the highly acclaimed Yacht Club one neighborhood over. They taste great, but they are pricy. I spend much more than I think I would, though, and that’s the only thing dropping this down a half point. The most recent time I dined here I tried to keep the cost down by ordering no drink and keeping it lighter on the food and still ended up spending $80-$90 per person. And with no happy hour, I just can’t call it a 5/5 in value. 4.5/5 - easy recommendation.
